In December 2000, I wrote about traffic and weather on the internet: The Internet Traffic Report monitors the flow of data around the world and displays the results on a map of the world. The map shows numbers between 0 (dead slow) and 100 (fast). The global index is often in the mid 50s, but sometimes unusual events cause traffic to be uncommonly heavy in one area or another.
If you visit the Internet Traffic Report URL today, you'll find that it's still operating. I also wrote about Internet Weather, which performed a similar function. That site is gone and the URL redirects to Dynatrace, a service that "provides software intelligence to simplify cloud complexity and accelerate digital transformation."
